| CAPESIZES A very slow, negative start to the week with talk that Rio Tinto has the Rubin Grace, 169,669-dwt 1995-built on subjects for a 6 July ownards $160,000-tonne 10% ore cargo from Dampier to Qingdao at just $8.80. The was talk of the ZOSCO Huzhou, 176,000-dwt 2010-built after fixing and failing with North China Shipping from Esperance fixed to Rio Tinto for a Dampier/China cargo around the mid $9.00 range, but this was done at the end of last week. NCS has since fixed the Iron Queen for the Esperance cargo for 8-15 July at $12.95. Either 'K' Line or NYK won a tender to move a 1-10 July coal cargo from Dalrymple Bay to Japan, but a rate was not reported. The Japanese involved has now fixed tonnage for the business. The Greek Warrior, 1990-built 150,000-tonne after failing with Noble went on subjects for a trip from Brazil 12 July for a trip to China at $18,000- daily plus a $1.55 million bonus. In the Atlantic, the 149,518-dwt 1991-built Chenebourg, open early July on the Continent fixed for a trip to the east, but details were lacking. PANAMAXES A slow start with very few changes in the market with most hoping that the east has found a floor and the Atlantic could push on. There was very little reported fixed to base any significant judgements on, brokers said. ATLANTIC Earlier today a report emerged that the Rosalia D'Amato, 74,716-dwt 2001-built open Aughinish 20 June was rumoured booked for a trip to the east via the Cape of Good Hope at a hefty $44,000 daily, but this could not be confirmed. There was little reason for a charterer to concede this rate unless caught out on dates. The RBD Think Positive, 81,200-dwt 2010-built, a Medmar relet open upriver end June reportedly fixed clean for a trip to the Middle East, but little else emerged. Bunge took the 73,454-dwt 2000-built Seajoy with delivery retroactive 17 June for 2 laden legs within the Atlantic at $28,000 daily - a good rate but it might include Syria trading. Louis Dreyfus reportedly has the 75,484-dwt 1999-built Golden Ocean relet subjects for 5-10 July delivery PMO for a trip via east coast South America to the east at $25,500 daily. Cargill last week took the 75,483-dwt 2009-built Palma Bulker from Southwest Passero 30 June for a trip to the east at $33,000 daily plus a $700,000 bonus. ASIA Here there was little fresh to talk about,. brokers said. The 81,426-dwt 2009-built Star of Abu Dhabi open 28-30 June Kaoshiung did some sort of round voyage at $20,000 daily, but a charterer was not reported. The Domina, 73,500-dwt 2007-built open Qingdao 21 June fixed, but details were not reported. At the end of last week Klaveness took the 74,750-dwt 2002-built Angelic Power from Shanghai for a trip via Indonesia to China at just $17,000 daily. HANDY/SUPRAMAXES ATLANTIC Rates were easier for Supramaxes in the Atlantic, brokers said. Oldendorff took the Ocean Alliance The Tamil Nadu, 2000-built 45,000-dwt was rumoured on subjects from the US Gulf to Italy at $28,000 daily, The Marylebone, 2001-built 48,000-dwt open end June east coast Mexico was rumoured on subjects for a trip back to this side, but little else emerged. There was talk that Louis Dreyfus took the 51,514-dwt 2002-built Maria D for delivery prompt Gibraltar for two laden legs within the Atlantic with coal from Colombia to Brazil and possibly sugar out at $22,000 daily. The charterer was also linked with the Crowned Eagle, 2008-built 59,000-dwt, which passed Muscat 2 June for a trip via east coast South America to the east possibly with sugar, but a rate was not reported. The Atlantic was generally easier, but the Continent though easier, was just a touch better than other areas with a shortage of tonnage evident. Towards the end of last week, the Patent, 31,800-dwt 2004-built open Rotterdam 26 June fixed a trip to Italy with steel coils initially said to be $22,000 daily, but the rate might be significantly more. Fednav took the ship. ASIA In the east, the Saturnus, 2008-built 50,000-dwt open Hazira was rumoured to have fixed and failed at just over $20,000 daily for a trip via the Black Sea to India. A good rate if subjects were lifted. Milestone took the Gold Star, 36,860-dwt 1984-built open Kandla for prompt delivery Kandla for a trip via the Persian Gulf for a trip to China at $13,000 daily having said that. However Jaldhi conceded just $7,500 daily to the Cielo Di Monfalcone for spot delivery Tuticorin via India to China at $76,000 daily. There was talk the east had bottomed out for the bigger types with the 52,000-dwt Navios Achilles, open 24-25 Xingang was rumoured on subjects for a NoPac round. The Gadwall, 37,200-dwt 2007-built open Singapore 25-30 June went to Hudson for an Australian round, but a rate was not reported.
