Currently the demand for ferrochrome keeps weak in Europe, so some suppliers have to lower their offers continuously. A trader in Europe reported that at present ferrochrome market keeps sluggish, as many consumers are watching the market instead of purchasing the material now. According to the source, he heard some suppliers even quoted material at about USD1.20/lb d.p. in warehouse Rotterdam for high carbon ferrochrome, but it is still difficult for them to conclude any deals. He added that the price of low carbon ferrochrome, C 0.1%max has decreased to below USD2.0/lb d.p. in warehouse Rotterdam, but many buyers are still not interested in purchasing the material. "Ferrochrome market is in off-season and many buyers want to leave the market for summer holidays due to weak demand from stainless steel mills," said the source. Another trader informed that although he has no stock of ferrochrome on hand, it is impossible for him to replenish any ferrochrome now, as he believed that the market has not reached the bottom line. "It is not a good time for us to do ferrochrome business, as it is obvious ferrochrome market will go down further," said the source. He disclosed that it is still difficult for those suppliers to sell high carbon ferrochrome at about USD1.20/lb d.p. in warehouse Rotterdam now. "However, we have sold our stocks of high carbon ferrochrome, Si 1%max at about USD1.30/lb d.p. in warehouse Rotterdam in early May," said the source.
