| The market of chrome metal in China is weak with prices hovering at RMB72,000-73,000/t (USD10,746-10,896/t) ex works, participants told us. A Liaoning-based trader, who is an agent of a local producer, released that they are selling chrome metal 99% at prices of RMB74,000-75,000/t (USD11,045-11,194/t) ex warehouse to different clients, depending on procurement size, while their purchasing prices are about RMB72,000-73,000/t (USD10,746-10,896/t) delivered. “The market is less active than that of the past months. Chrome metal prices have been almost steady in the past half year but dropped a little some time ago and kept stable these days,” said the source. A Henan-based producer, who used to produce 100tpm of chrome metal 99%, confirmed the weak market of this material, adding that they have suspended production as there were few enquiries from buyers. “Current prices of this material are about RMB72,000-73,000/t (USD10,746-10,896/t) ex works,” said the source. “The market of chrome metal is not very big, so the market is almost transparent.” Another producer in Tianjin, whose products are mainly sold abroad, revealed that they are having a hard time exporting this material, adding that they received few enquiries from foreign buyers and strict restrictions from the Chinese government make it more difficult to do the business.
